Pinfold Lane Reconstruction for MAG
Pinfold lane is a busy through road that connects the western cargo centre of Manchester Airport to the South side parking of the runway visitors park and the main road to the M56.
To complete the work safely we installed fencing to restrict the area, however, we still needed to allow access at all times to MAG Engineering and maintenance employees. We were also required to maintain the MAG Bussing operations and access to the DNATA operation, plus provide Traffic and Pedestrian management.
- Location Pinfold Lane, Manchester
- Completion Date September 2021
- Services Provided Road Re-surfacing
- Project Duration 4 Months
We carried out a GPRS survey to locate the existing services including the Airport's main fuel line, gas, water and HV electrical services. The scheme was expanded to include a larger section of the road and the excavation increased to a full depth construction. Whilst carrying out the work we uncovered further services which were not originally identified. Our team adapted and dealt with unexpected discoveries during the process. This resulted in the need for additional construction protection.
Once reaching formation-level we installed MOT type 1, including sand bed and surround to the services. Installation of new kerb lines were introduced once the resurface of the road had been carried out to meet specified tarmac construction. This included the installation of the new island, ducting, relining the roadway, altering the existing fencelines and installing a MAG car parking barrier system plus.
