Design & Build Services for Hostile Vehicle Measures at Manchester Airport

Our team were part of the development of major new car parks at Manchester Airport that involved the construction of a new bussing area. Security assessments indicated the need for this area to be protected from the threat of possible attack by hostile vehicles. We were appointed Principal Designer and Principal Contractor for the installation of a series of Hostile Vehicle Measures (HVM) to protect this area.

  • Location Manchester Airport
  • Completion Date September 2021
  • Services Provided Construction of defences against hostile vehicles
  • Project Duration 5 Months

A key aspect of this contract included management of development and evolution of the design undertaken jointly by our appointed civils designer and the security specialist appointed by the Airport to deliver a practical solution that accommodated the constraints of the site.

The works involved the construction of reinforced bunds, gabions, blocks and bollards.  The identification and protection of key services underlying the site and management of construction activities immediately adjacent to a busy roundabout and entrance to a major car park were challenges successfully met by a very proactive approach to the management of the site.
